Saturday Enrichment Program

The Behavioral Services department is pleased to announce our new Saturday Enrichment Program. This program offers a variety of services including social skills groups, academic enrichment groups, and individual social skills support. Using Applied Behavior Analysis, we develop data-based programs to teach communication, social skills, and executive functioning skills. Traditional behavioral instruction methods, such as discrete trials, are combined with naturalistic teaching methods to create programs that meet each child’s needs. We are also offering companion training sessions for parents who would like to understand and practice the instructional methods used with their children. These programs are offered Saturdays at our Canton office. Full descriptions of services are listed below.

Programs for children ages 3-16:

Social Skills Groups:

Applied Behavior Analysis is used to teach play, conversation, and other friendship skills. Complex skills (for example, conflict resolution) are broken down into small steps and taught systematically. Specific curricula are tailored to meet the needs of each individual group.

Academic Enrichment Groups:

Academic Enrichment groups focus on the development of communication and academic skills in children who are ready for group instruction but who have not yet developed the ability to learn in a typical classroom. These groups will focus on developing the executive functioning skills necessary to learn in a group setting.

Individual Instruction:

One-to-one instruction based on Applied Behavior Analysis is available for students who are not yet ready for group instruction. Curricula will be developed based on the needs of each student individually.

Companion programs for parents:

Applied Behavior Analysis- Teaching your child new skills

The first of this two-part training covers the most important instructional methods used in the education of children with autism spectrum disorders, including discrete trials, shaping, and chaining.

Applied Behavior Analysis- Behavior Reduction Techniques

The second part of the training will focus on behavior reduction techniques, including differential reinforcement, punishment, extinction, and time out.

There is a fee for these groups, call for more information!
